Creating a New Phone Key after Phone Change - Old Phone Available

This section describes how to create a new Phone Key for an existing Phone Key user who has changed the phone.

Normally, the user shall inform the locking system administrator before changing the SIM card or phone, or both, so that the administrator can remove the old Phone Key from the old SIM card / phone combination. See Replacing the SIM Card.

If the user has not informed the locking system administrator before changing the phone, and has the old phone is available, follow these instructions.

Proceed as follows.

  1. Request the user to return using the old phone with the original SIM card.
  2. Select Basic data > Browse keys.

  3. Select the Phone Key in question from the Browse keys list.
  4. Right-click the key and select Return and empty key.
The Return of keys wizard is opened.
  5. Select Return keys.
  6. Select Next.
  7. Select how to handle the returned key information.

Select one, both, or none of the options below:

    • Retain returned keys in the system — Select this check box, if you want to keep the key definition in the system. However, the key will be emptied.

The key will remain in the In planning state.

    • Retain key connections to persons — Select this check box if you want to retain the Phone Key on the original person. Unselect this check box if you want to assign this Phone Key to another person, or leave it unassigned.

    • Select neither of the options, if you want to define a completely new Phone Key for the existing SIM card.

  8. Select Next.
  9. A summary screen is shown.
  10. Select Ready.
  11. A summary screen is shown.

If the Phone Key remains in the Sent state, see Troubleshooting.

  13. Request the user to move the SIM card to the new phone.
  14. Select how to proceed:
    • If you did not select Retain returned keys in the system in step 7, proceed by creating a new Phone Key. See Adding a Key.

    • Otherwise, select the Phone Key in question (in the In planning programming state) from the Browse keys list.

  15. Right click to select Program key.
  16. Select OK.
  17. Select OK.
  18. Select Order keys.
  19. Select Next.
  20. Select Ready.
  21. Enter the phone number in the Phone number in international format field.
  22. Select Order.
  23. Select Close.

The Phone Key programming state remains Sent until the phone confirms that the key has been removed. Monitor the Phone Key state by selecting Refresh, until the key enters the Programmed programming state.

If the Phone Key remains in the Sent state, see the Troubleshooting section.
