Why does opening a lock take so much time compared to wallet functionalities?

The average waiting time (3-4 sec) is because the lock needs power to check the access rights and to unlock. Power is drawn from the phone through NFC, and it takes a couple seconds for the lock to wake up and function. This is a small price to pay for stability and security because the lock does not need wiring or a battery to function and thus cannot run out of power. As no batteries are required, it’s also a cost-effective, maintenance-free and environmentally friendly solution.
