Near-field communication (NFC)

Near-field communication (NFC) is a short-range wireless connectivity technology that uses magnetic field induction to allow two NFC compatible devices to communicate when they’re brought close to each other. It is commonly used in contactless payment devices, for example.

iLOQ locks generate the energy they need for unlocking via NFC from a phone held next to them. It’s easy and, as no batteries are required, it’s also a cost-effective, maintenance-free and environmentally friendly solution.

To ensure smooth and efficient energy flow between the phone and the lock during opening, the NFC antenna on the phone must be placed accurately against the lock’s antenna knob. The NFC antenna may be in different places depending on your phone model. Please keep in mind that NFC performance may be affected if your phone has a cover or other accessories.
