Key blocking groups

A key blocking group is a group of locks that shares the same list of blocked keys. When designing key blocking groups, it is important to consider the following:

The limit of 500 keys per key blocking group

  • When a key blocking group becomes full the locks in the key blocking group must be reset and re-deployed.
  • The number of keys that have access to the locks that share the same key blocking group.
  • The end users’ behavior, i.e., how often keys are lost. This happens more frequently on some premises than on others.

D2D network efficiency

  • Phone keys carry all key blocking groups.
  • Key fobs can carry only one key blocking group. Note: When assigning a key fob that has locks that belong to multiple key blocking groups you must manually select which key blocking group the key fob is assigned to.

Note: Locks must be assigned to a key blocking group before they can be programmed.
