Key blocking groups
A key blocking group is a group of access points that shares the same list of blocked keys. When designing key blocking groups, it is important to consider the following:
The limit of 500 keys per key blocking group
- When a key blocking group becomes full the access points (locks) in the key blocking group must be reset and re-deployed.
- The number of keys that have access to the access points that share the same key blocking group.
- The end users’ behavior, i.e., how often keys are lost. This happens more frequently on some premises than on others.
D2D network efficiency
- Key fobs can carry only one key blocking group.
- Phone keys carry all key blocking groups.
Note: Access points must be assigned to a key blocking group before they can be programmed.
