Customer system example: Park Avenue Apartments

Park Avenue Apartments is a property with 20 apartments and the following common spaces: lounge, fitness center, laundry room and pool. It also includes a mechanical room and an electrical room.

In this example, we illustrate what a customer system in the multifamily residential sector might look like, and provide examples of what kind of information could be entered into each step of the deployment process. Note that this is a simplified small-scale example for reference.

Premises

Premises are named descriptively and their relation to other premises are illustrated with arrows.

Locks

Locks are added to the main entrance of the building, all common spaces, mechanical and electrical rooms as well as all apartments.

Lock groups

Lock groups are created based on logical groups of locks. In this case, two lock groups are created. One lock group (Lock group 1) contains locks to the main entrance and common spaces used by residents. The other lock group (Lock group 2) contains spaces used by maintenance personnel.

  • Lock group 1 (Common areas): Lounge, fitness center, laundry room and pool.
  • Lock group 2 (Maintenance): Mechanical room, electrical room.

Key blocking groups

This property uses one key blocking group as all premises are situated within one building and the overall number of premises is low.

Administrator roles

This property has the following administrator roles:

Property Manager: Oversees the daily operations of the complex, handles tenant issues, and ensures the property is well-maintained.

User roles

This property has the following user roles:

Maintenance Manager: Responsible for the overall maintenance of the building. They handle repairs, oversee other maintenance staff, and ensure the building’s systems (like heating and plumbing) are functioning properly. Requires access to the main entrance, common areas, mechanical rooms and utility rooms.

Maintenance Technician: They perform repairs and maintenance tasks within the apartments and common areas. Requires access to the main entrance, common areas, mechanical room and electrical room.

Cleaning staff: Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of common areas. Requires access to the main entrance and common areas.

Resident: A person that lives in the building. In addition to access to their apartment, they require access to the main entrance of the building and common areas.

Private premises

All apartments are marked as private premises. The reason for this is that marking premises as private allows the user assigned to the apartment to share access to their premises via the iLOQ App.
