Remote unlocking

The remote unlock feature (known as remote key in the iLOQ App) allows users to remotely unlock entrances equipped with an iLOQ online reader just by pressing a button in the iLOQ App.

This feature is available for relay locks, i.e., locks that are equipped with an online reader and connected to an online door module. A reader can operate almost any electrically powered or triggered access control device, including normal and automatic doors, elevators, turnstiles, gates, barriers, and lockers.

Prerequisites

To use the remote unlocking feature the following two settings must be enabled:

  • The Can be remotely unlocked setting must be enabled for the relay lock controlling the door.
  • The Unlock remotely feature must be enabled from the permissions tab of the user role.

How to enable remote unlocking for a relay lock

When adding N501, N501.1 or N502 online door modules via Locking devices > Manage devices, make sure the Can be remotely unlocked box is checked for the relay lock. This setting defines if the relay lock can be remotely unlocked.

Note: The unlock duration of the relay lock is set to 3 seconds and cannot be changed currently.

How to enable remote unlocking for a user role

In the user role’s Permissions tab, make sure the Unlock remotely box is checked, and that the boxes are checked for all locks that should be remotely unlockable.

When this permission is enabled, all users assigned to the role can use the iLOQ App to remotely unlock the doors configured for the role.

The Remote key feature allows you to unlock entrances from your phone with the press of a button. This feature provides a convenient way to unlock entrances for yourself or grant access to others without having to be at the door in person.

Using the remote key

  1. On the home screen of the app, tap Remote key to view a list of doors that can be unlocked remotely.
  2. Tap the unlock button ( iOS / Android) next to the door you want to unlock.
  3. A countdown timer in the app shows how long the door will remain unlocked.

NOTE: If your phone is offline, the remote key feature is not available. An active internet connection is required to use it.
